My Take on Logbooks
It’s no secret of the importance of a logbook— it’s more than just a record of flight hours, it’s a tool for tracking progress, preparing for checkrides, and ensuring compliance with FAA regulations. There are far too many logbooks options out there to list. The one that I have found to like the most is the Jeppesen Pilot Logbook – Student. Although it says ‘Student’, it is the logbook I continue to use as a flight instructor, and recommend to my students for a number of reasons:
Green Pages
Not only are the green pages “easy-on-the-eyes”, but the pages also resist ink bleed through.
Perfectly Sized for Every Flight Bag
The logbook is compact and lightweight, designed to fit perfectly inside any standard flight bag. This ensures that students, instructors, and pilots always have their logbook and endorsements on hand.
Personalized Column Options
There are a handful of empty columns on every page - this allows you to modify the logbook to suit your needs. I use mine to track flight time for High DA, Turbine Time, etc.
Want a Logbook That Lasts Longer?
For pilots that want to maintain the same logbook throughout the majority of their professional career, the Jeppesen Professional Pilot Logbook is a great option.
The Professional Logbook offers:
• More pages – Reducing the need to switch to a new logbook as hours accumulate.
• Larger format – More space to log flights and details.
• A professional look – High quality leather with professional logo
